Annual Workshop

William Bernhardt Writing Workshop 2011
June 4-5, 2011

"The Emphasis is on Work"

These annual events are called workshops for a reason--because writing is hard work, and anyone who tells you differently is not doing you any favors.  "Work," however, is not synonymous with "impossible."  This workshop is designed for those who nurture the dream of seeing their name on the spine of a book and are willing to do the work necessary to get it there.  For those just starting, there will be many general sessions they can attend to learn more about the art, craft, and business of writing.  For the more advanced writer, there will be many interactive opportunities to perfect their work-in-progress.

Workshop attendance is sharply limited so every participant has a chance to speak to the agents, editors and writers they believe can help them.  Small group sessions and master classes focus on writers' specific needs.  Special event panels such as the "first-page panel" and the "query letter closeup" center on critiques of attending writers' work.   Whether you are writing fiction or nonfiction, whether you are experienced or just beginning, this workshop will have something to help you grow as a writer and, most importantly, something to help you move forward toward the dream of seeing your name on the spine of a book.

Saturday Night Reception
A highlight of the workshop will be the signing and reception with all the authors, followed by keynote addresses from our special guests. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet all the presenters, have books signed, and chat with them in an informal setting.
